Peanut Butter Bacon RollupsWhat are Peanut Butter Bacon Rolls you may ask? Well, in a word they are glorious! I enjoy combining different types of foods and trying to come up with something that is unique and tastes great. The orgin of this creation came at a high school youth camp in July of 2010. I don’t remember exactly how it started but I ended up putting some peanut butter on my bacon. Then the next strip I put peanut butter on, added some Sriracha to it (which my good friend Josh brought to camp), and drug it through my syrup. The students thought I was crazy but one brave student ended up trying it as well.

This got me thinking. What about some kind of bacon roll-up that combined these flavors? It took 9 months before I would finally give this a try. I expected them to be good but was pleasantly surprised how good these rolls were.

So, how do you create these? Glad you asked! Below are some basic ingredients and instructions on how I created them. Give it a try and feel free to through in your own alterations. If you come up with a good tweak, let me know as I would love to try it!

What you need (the amounts vary depending on how many you are making)

  • Bacon
  • Peanut Butter
  • Sriracha
  • Agave (I used this instead of syrup / honey)
  • Eggs
  • Flour
  • Milk

Directions:

Start out by laying your bacon flat and spreading peanut butter on it. After you have the peanut butter applied, add a bead of Sriracha and a bead of Agave down the center.

Next, roll up your bacon and put a tooth pick through it to keep it together.

After you have your rolls ready, mix your eggs in a bowl with a little bit of milk and also put your flour into a separate bowl.

Now, dip your bacon rolls in the egg mix and then into the flour mix.

They are ready to cook!

Heat up a pan with oil (I prefer coconut oil) and proceed to fry up the rolls in your pan. The peanut butter will get runny when you do this so be prepared for a bit of a mess in your pan.

After they are cooked up to your liking, eat and enjoy!

I have only made these once but when I make them again I plan to figure out a way to keep them from being so messy.
